We offer videotape digitization services for most consumer/prosumer and broadcast tape formats.

Our experience with tape goes back to the early 1990s, with VHS, U-Matic, and gigantic control boards that overheated a room in a hurry.

Over the years of offering DVD and Blu-ray mastering services, we've amassed quite a collection of decks, and can handle most tape capture jobs that involve formats going back to the 1970s. Our equipment is all racked in our air conditioned machine room, and is digitally routed for easy access to several capture workstations.

Our HD decks all work with 23.976, 29.97 or 25fps material. Most of the standard definition formats we work with can be captured natively in their original NTSC or PAL standard.

If you're looking to upconvert or standards convert your tapes, we've got you covered. Our Teranex can handle most up/down/cross conversions with the highest possible quality, including tapes made with broken 3:2 pulldown cadence.

HDCAM SR

Our collection of professional and broadcast tape decks ranges from 1/2" EIAJ and 1" Type-C Open Reel, to 3/4" Umatic, to broadcast formats including HDCAM SR, HDCAM, HD D5, Digital Betacam, Betacam SP, and more. We use only high quality timebase correctors, frame synchronizers and A/D converters, and can capture from multiple formats concurrently.

Umatic is captured using the Dub output and YC688 signal to eliminate chroma-crawl and high contrast edge artifacts inherent to composite video signals.

Prosumer tape

We also capture most of the common camera formats from the late 1990s onward, including DV, DVCAM, DVCPro, HDV, XDCAM, and more.
